Even further into the North of Israel is an area known as Upper Galilee. One of the first settlements in Upper Galilee is Rosh Pina, a town that claims Madonna as a resident, is located in Upper Galilee. The Hula Valley, a drained swampland in Upper Galilee, is a nature reserve with walking and biking paths for all sorts of people on vacation in Israel. This hotspot was named one of the top places to see nature in the world by BBC Nature Magazine. Many of Israel’s kibbutzim take advantage of the unique experience the Upper Galilee has to offer near the Jordan River. You won’t have to fly and drive to get here, you can simply kayak your way to this area where the river is steeper, narrower, and faster than other parts of the Jordan River. It makes for a cool way to spend your afternoon while on vacation in Israel. Two kibbutzim in Upper Galilee are Kfar Giladi and Pastoral Kfar Blum.
